A story by Connie Leeman and Liana Finucan

In spite of a bitterly cold, windy Saturday night, the dance floor at Zorba’s was filled with joyous dancers.

Joe’s M.I.L.L. would like to sincerely thank Gord McDiarmid, Brant Peppley, Brian Howell, Craig Jones, Val Hamilton, Barb Wilson, Stuart Pike and Jay Janz, the band members of Heatwave, who put on an energetic, three-set show of favourite Motown songs, raising a whopping $3,000.00!

Brant had the highest bid in our Silent Auction, winning a Fender Stratocaster guitar & case, which he played in the third set! The money from the auction will allow us to purchase two more guitars for lending to our many library patrons.

Thanks also to Linda Line and Stu Roberts, two of our reliable and diligent Special Events Volunteers.

After the second set, Board President Terry Snider said a few word of thanks to the band with a short overview of the M.I.L.L., and presented them with a candle lit cake and T-shirts for each in appreciation of their volunteered time and effort. Some of the band members proudly wore their Joe’s M.I.L.L. collector item T-shirts for the last set.

The Heatwave will burn in our hearts for a while to come, and see us through this chilly spring! Thanks!
