Savannah Shea
Voice
I began teaching in 2020. Over that time I have developed a stronger sense of why I teach and the way I want to teach.
I teach because I believe using the voice as a vehicle of expression is a healing act. Training is not essential for vocalization to be healing. There is no wrong way to use your voice. However, practice and training can help us understand the intricacies of how the voice works and allow us to remove barriers between what we feel internally and our ability to express those feelings externally.
There are many different reasons you may want to approach vocal lessons:
1. If you are already a frequent singer and want a few tips on how to avoid strain, build stamina, or sing with more ease.
2. If you are a beginner and have always wanted to be able to sing your favourite songs.
3. If you feel blocked in your expression and communication in your daily life
4. If you are looking for a fun challenge and a regular activity that will pull you into your body and your joy
5. If you are interested in performance but are nervous to start sharing your gift in front of people
6. If you are interested in songwriting and creating original music.
What I am looking for in a student:
Someone self-directed with a definitive goal. For this reason I lean more towards teaching older teens and adults, however if you know of a young person who is very eager about music and full of enthusiasm for learning they would also be a great student! I have a lot of experience working with kids, and love to help develop a spark!
