Ben Reed is a music educator with the Limestone District School Board in Kingston, Ontario. Graduating from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Music in Percussion (2023) and Bachelor of Education (2024), he specializes in mallet percussion, specifically jazz vibraphone. He is also a recording artist who has released his own music, and regularly plays the drums, as well as acoustic, electric, and lap steel guitars. Ben has had a variety of different music teaching placements, including all levels of instrumental music, guitar, and a specialized class for students interested in songwriting and recording, as well as rehearsing and conducting extracurricular music programming. As a result of these experiences, Ben was invited to be the percussion clinician at the inaugural Limestone DSB Music Celebration, where he was responsible for leading a masterclass and coaching students towards the final performance. Ben is passionate about the teaching and learning of music as a shared experience, and is dedicated to helping his students find joy through music making and musical fellowship.
