Open Position:
Education Program Instructor
We seek a qualified Musical Instrument and Band Instructors to lead sessions of our music program.
You will be responsible for delivering music activities from a determined plan, providing instruction to individual participants on specific instruments as well as providing coaching on group play, and ensuring the overall quality of our program.
Main Responsibilities
Collaborate on development of curriculum with team members.
Prepare workshop outline and lesson plans for 8-week sessions
Implement established music program for participants in groups of approximately 8 – 14 participants
Provide individual instruction and guidance on ensemble playing to participants
Maintain a fun, safe and inclusive environment for all participants
Collaborate with Program Co-ordinator and other staff members on ongoing development of program plan
Participate in staff training and orientation
Enrolled in or graduated from a post-secondary program specializing in education or music education or similar
or:
Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching instrumental music in group situation to groups of: children, youth and/or senior
Knowledge of (and ability to teach) several types of musical instruments from various categories (percussion, woodwind, brass, strings)
Ability to play and teach lessons in a workshop setting
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Police security check and First Aid with CPR Certification
Renewable 8-week term contract
Various types of programs: weekdays, evenings, weekends - workshop and in-school classroom
Compensation to be discussed based on type of program and instructor qualifications/experience
Reimbursement for approved expenses or mileage
