William Ernst

Dr. June Chithalen recruited Bill to prepare and file the not-for-profit annual returns in the early days of Joe's Music Mill. When the charity became incorporated and later received its charitable registration he became a board member and the chief financial officer. Twice he has been the acting President of the Board.

Bill graduated from High School in Walkerton in 1963 and entered employment in Hamilton as an accountant trainee. He became a CA in 1968 and a partner in a local Hamilton firm in 1970 which merged with Grant Thornton in 1974. Bill provided professional services to a large cross-section of clients, namely, municipalities, boards of education, electrical utilities, manufacturers, distributors, retailers, hospitality, real estate and construction, entrepreneurs professionals and estates.

Bill also served as office managing partner as well as two terms as a member of the National Executive Committee. In 1995 he withdrew from the partnership but continues to provide consulting services to some clients.

Bill was a member of the Hamilton Central Lions Club, fulfilling many roles within the club. He was a founding member and later president of the Flamborough Chamber of Commerce.


Bill has been married three times and has two sons, five stepchildren, and seven grandchildren.
